Control of switching between metastable superconducting states in δ-MoN nanowires

چکیده
The superconducting state in one-dimensional nanosystems is very delicate. While fluctuations of the phase of the superconducting wave function lead to the spontaneous decay of persistent supercurrents in thin superconducting wires and nanocircuits, discrete phase-slip fluctuations can also lead to more exotic phenomena, such as the appearance of metastable superconducting states in current-bearing wires. Here we show that switching between different metastable superconducting states in δ-MoN nanowires can be very effectively manipulated by introducing small amplitude electrical noise. Furthermore, we show that deterministic switching between metastable superconducting states with different numbers of phase-slip centres can be achieved in both directions with small electrical current pulse perturbations of appropriate polarity. The observed current-controlled bi-stability is in remarkable agreement with theoretically predicted trajectories of the system switching between different limit cycle solutions of a model one-dimensional superconductor.

Zero-bias anomaly in a nanowire quantum dot coupled to superconductors.
We studied the low-energy states of spin-1/2 quantum dots defined in InAs/InP nanowires and coupled to aluminum superconducting leads. By varying the superconducting gap Δ with a magnetic field B we investigated the transition from strong coupling Δ << T(K) to weak-coupling Δ >> T(K), where T(K) is the Kondo temperature. Below the critical field, we observe a persisting zero-bias Kondo resonanc...
متن کاملThe Hardest Superconducting Metal Nitride
Transition-metal (TM) nitrides are a class of compounds with a wide range of properties and applications. Hard superconducting nitrides are of particular interest for electronic applications under working conditions such as coating and high stress (e.g., electromechanical systems). However, most of the known TM nitrides crystallize in the rock-salt structure, a structure that is unfavorable to ...

Quantum phase slippage (QPS) in a superconducting nanowire is a new candidate for developing a quantum bit [Mooij et al. New J. Phys. 2005, 7, 219; Mooij et al. Nat. In this paper, the density of states (DOS) of a planar d-wave Josephson junction is studied analytically. Two high temperature superconductors are separated by an interface with finite transparency coefficient. The c-axes are parallel to the interface and ab-axes have a mis-orientation. The tunneling occurs via the interface because of phase difference between superconducting bulks. The effec...
